Another day … more violent deaths!
On the news tonight I’m reading of 12 shot dead at the Navy Yard in the States; a teenager charged with murder in Leicester; a teenager arrested on suspicion of murder in Birmingham; a report issued into the terrible abuse and death of a child in Coventry.
The BBC’s Home Editor, Mark Easton began his report with these words:
The tragedy of Daniel Pelka is that he is not the first and won’t be the last child to be tortured and killed.
Violence is an endemic problem and has been a stain on the fabric of human life from the very beginning, but is it a problem that is increasing? Is society getting worse? If so, why?
Is there any hope?
